1. SCOPE OF SERVICES
CKE Genetics provides genetic counselling services and coordinates genetic testing through internationally accredited clinical genetics laboratories.
Our services include:
- Pre-test and post-test genetic counselling
- Review of personal and family medical history
- Genetic risk assessment
- Coordination of genetic testing where clinically appropriate
- Explanation and discussion of genetic test results
- Written summaries and reports
Our services are delivered by qualified genetic counsellors.
2. NATURE OF GENETIC COUNSELLING
Genetic counselling is an educational and supportive service designed to help individuals understand genetic conditions, testing options, and potential implications.
Genetic counselling does not replace medical care and does not constitute medical diagnosis or treatment.
Patients remain responsible for decisions regarding their healthcare and any actions taken following counselling or testing.
3. GENETIC TESTING
Genetic testing is carried out by independent, internationally accredited laboratories.
CKE Genetics does not perform laboratory testing and is not responsible for laboratory analysis or the generation of test results.
We coordinate testing and support patients in understanding the results provided.
4. LIMITATIONS OF GENETIC TESTING
Genetic testing has inherent limitations.
Results may:
- notidentifya genetic cause
- identify variants of uncertain significance
- not provide definitive answers
- be subject to reinterpretation as scientific knowledge evolves
A negative result does not necessarily exclude the presence of a genetic condition.
5. CLINICAL DECISION-MAKING
Information provided by CKE Genetics is intended to support understanding and informed decision-making.
It should not be used as a substitute for advice from a GP, consultant, or other qualified healthcare professional.
Patients are encouraged to seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.
6. FAMILY IMPLICATIONS
Genetic information may have implications for biological relatives.
While we may discuss the relevance of results for family members, CKE Genetics does not contact relatives directly.
Patients are responsible for sharing relevant information with family members if they choose to do so.
7. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Some aspects of our services involve third parties, including laboratories, couriers, and digital platforms.
CKE Genetics is not responsible for the performance, delays, or actions of third-party providers.
8. DATA AND RECORDS
Clinical information is recorded and stored securely within our systems.
Information is shared only where necessary to provide services and in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
9. NO GUARANTEES
CKE Genetics does not guarantee that genetic counselling or testing will result in a diagnosis, clear outcome, or specific medical recommendation.
10. EMERGENCY AND URGENT CARE
CKE Genetics does not provide emergency or urgent medical services.
